Where to find the houses from the Conjuring movies (2024)

If you heard that the Conjuring movies were based on true stories and you want to find their houses, you’re in luck! We can tell you where to find the actual homes that inspired The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, as well as any “stunt doubles” that were used in their movies.

If you want to venture inside the places where most of the interior shots happened though, that’s a different story. Most were shot on sound stages, which wouldn’t help you very much. They get reused and wouldn’t look anything like the sets from the movies.

However, if you’re wondering if you can tour inside the real houses that inspired the Conjuringmovies, in some cases you can.

Let’s find out more about where they are and how you can legally visit them without trespassing and causing the owners grief.

When it comes to the original movie, there are actually two Conjuring houses: the real one and the one used in the movie. Let’s explore both.

The Real Conjuring House

The Farm on Round Top Road, or “the house that started a franchise,” as its current owners the Heinzens call it, is locatedin Harrisville, Rhode Island. The Arnold Estate, as the home is also known, is a Colonial-era home that was built in 1736.

Does the old farmhouse really have paranormal activity as Andrea Perron, one of the daughters who lived in the house when Ed and Lorraine Warren came to investigate, claims? (And has written books about.)

The Heinzens believe so and even offer weekend and weekday investigations for those looking to find out for themselves.

The Conjuring House Used In The Movie

The Keith House in Currie, North Carolina, is about 30 minutes from Wilmington, North Carolina. It’s the stunt double used in the movie when it comes to the exterior scenes. (Screen Gems Studio is where most interior scenes were filmed.)

Unlike the real Conjuring house in Rhode Island, there’s no website with more information about the North Carolina Conjuring home.

However, if you’d like to do a respectful drive-by, Pender County, where the movie is filmed, is proud of all of its filming credits. It lists the house’s address (405 Canetuck Road, Currie, NC), as well as other popular filming locations around the area. A few other horror movies that were filmed there include I Know What You Did Last Summer, Silver Bullet and Sleepy Hollow.

Where to find The Conjuring 2 house

Like the first movie, the sequel wasn’t filmed in the real house that inspired the story either. Let’s explore them both.

The Real House In TheConjuring 2

The house that inspired the sequelis based on the real-life English haunting known as the Enfield poltergeist. Enfield is a borough (or suburb) of London and the house the paranormal activity took place in is located on284 Green Street in Brimsdown.

Unlike the Conjuring house in Rhode Island, the Enfield house doesn’t have a website or offer investigations on a regular basis. People do show up to take pictures (including lots of selfies!) in front of it, but it’s less common to get the chance to go inside.

The House Used InThe Conjuring 2 movie

Even though The Conjuring 2 is set in England,Global Film Locations reported that an Enfield home replica was built on a set and used for exterior and interior shots.

According to Slash Film, “only a few days of principal photographytook place there, for some exterior scenes.”Most of the movie was filmed in California.

The Conjuring 3 releases in theaters and on HBO Max on June 4, 2021, but it’s taking a little bit of a different turn from the first two movies

Instead of being based on a haunted house, it’s being based on a haunted case out of Connecticut. It will still involve possessions and exorcisms, but it’s inspired by a murder trial in which the defendant,Arne Cheyenne Johnson, claimed the Devil made him kill his landlord.

We’ll see if where the murder happened ends up becoming a macabre tourist destination or not.

We also don’t know if where it was filmed involves a specific house or building that will spark horror movie travels. One thing we know is where it was filmed, though: the Hollywood of the South: Georgia.

For now, The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2are bothNetflix moviesavailable for our streaming pleasure—or would that be screaming pleasure?
