As they got together with one another to discuss Brittany and Jax'sseparation, which was announced ahead of The Valley’s premiere and led to filming resuming, Brittany called Jax out for making one change in the relationship — but only “right before the cameras come up," as seen in Season 1, Episode 12.

“Don’t get mad at me just because I’m calling you out,” Brittany said. “Do you want me back, or are you just gonna just sit there and let me go, because I will go.”

Did Jax Taylor try to save his marriage for the cameras?

Brittany said Jax’s sudden desire to go to counseling with her came a day late and a dollar short. Jax, however, maintained the decision wasn’t a ploy for cameras.

In the season finale clip, Jax said he’d discussed meeting with a therapist within his friend group. When Brittany asked when he made the appointment, he said he only made it the previous day— but denied it was convenient timing and insisted it was “the time to do it.”

“Jax has been saying that he’s gonna go to therapy for years now,” Brittany told producers. “The day before we pick cameras back up, he all of a sudden has an appointment to go see the doctor?”

Brittany wasn’t buying it.

“This is all a front; this is what he wants everyone to see and believe, that he’s actually gonna do these things to change," Brittany continued. “I bet you money he will not do it.”

It wasn’t the first time Brittany has brought up therapy as a contributing factor in their split, of course. She previously said Jax was “extremely stubborn” in response to the idea of getting professional help for the marriage, admitting on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that his unwillingness to go was her breaking point.

Why did Jax and Brittany separate?

Jax asked Brittany what the plan was, and Brittany said they needed space “for the way you treated me for all these years.” She accused Jax of “acting all cool, calm, and collected” when he was anything but.

Hours earlier, Brittany, Kristen Doute, and Zack Wickham discussed the shocking ways in which Jax allegedly treated Brittany.

“The nights that I’ve been here, like, sometimes it gets to a scary point,” Zack said. “Like, I don’t know how to handle it.”

Brittany acknowledged that Jax would yell at her in front of their friends.

“He didn’t care who he embarrassed me in front of,” said Brittany.

Kristen wondered if Jax had addressed his actions, including allegedly calling Brittany “fat” and “f-cking lazy,” and telling Brittany that she’d have no friends in Los Angeles if they ever threw in the towel on their marriage.

“That was one of the main things,” Brittany admitted. “Him saying I had no friends here in L.A.”

Did Jax attend therapy?

Even though Jax did make a counseling appointment, he confessed to producers that he never made it. When asked by production if he was “afraid to go,” Jax said, “That, and it was really far.”

Jax told Brittany that the therapist was all the way in Malibu, and Brittany said he should have made the appointment a month or two earlier — back when she made the request.

Jax and Brittany — who co-parent their 3-year-old son, Cruz Cauchi — announced their split on their shared podcast, When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany. Marital troubles, including communication problems and a lack of intimacy, were front and center for The Valley’s debut season.

A second season is already in the works.
